Day 1
Old Montreal (Vieux Montreal) is the historic center of Montreal with well-preserved architecture and cobblestone streets. Dinner will be at the Modavie Restaurant – a longtime fixture in the Montreal jazz scene. A delicious dinner and live jazz are a perfect welcome to Montreal!
Day 2
Notre Dame Basilica – A breathtaking architecture, gold leaf, infinite blue, thousands of stars and exceptional stained-glass windows. You will enjoy a 2-minute tour and have time to take in the magnificent basilica.
St Joseph Oratory is in the tree-lined borough of historic Mount Royal (where the city gets its name, Montreal). The monumental architectural is as remarkable as the works of art from France and Canada which embellish the buildings. The Basilica’s dome is itself the highest point in Montreal.
The Carillon at St. Joseph’s offers a recital, which is a delight to hear and a marvel to watch.
After lunch on your own, more Montreal sightseeing!
Then you take to the river. Enjoy a scenic 1-hour narrated cruise of Montreal and the surrounding area, along the St. Lawrence River.
Dinner tonight is on your own in Old Montreal (Vieux Montreal).
Day 3
Travel today to Quebec City on the Eastern side of the St. Lawrence. Enjoy the pastoral landscape and quaint villages.
You’ll stop in Drummondville, at Rose Drummond. Greenhouses growing roses! The aroma is as captivating as the varieties. You will enjoy a short tour and talk.
Upon arrival to Quebec City, you will travel inside The Wall – the only walled-in city in North America, with your local guide for a walking tour through the cobble stoned streets, past 17th century architecture. You can imagine the horse drawn carriages and sonorous church bells…
The Hilton Quebec is a modern refreshing 4-star hotel located just outside the wall providing a convenient and comfortable location for exploring the city.
Dinner this evening at the Aux Anciens Canadiens Restaurant. This is the oldest house in Quebec City (1675) that was transformed into a restaurant with 5 dining rooms. It is decorated with antiques and collector’s items and offers traditional Quebec specialties.
Day 4
Travel along the St. Lawrence, for some wonderful sightseeing as you travel to Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré – the Shrine is the second oldest pilgrimage site in North America, and a magnificent building set along the St. Lawrence. Today you will have a guided tour to discover the shrine’s extraordinary history through its paintings, mosaics, stained-glass windows, and stone and wooden sculptures.
You will stop at Boulangerie Chez Marie. Located on the old Côte-de-Beaupré, this 4th generation bakery is housed in a building built in 1652. In summer, a batch of fresh bread is baked every day. Bearing the same name as her grandmother, the owner of today, Marie Mercier, continues the family heritage of over 90 years. You will enjoy samples!
Albert Gilles Copper – For nearly 100 years, the Gilles family has been renowned for its metal craftsmanship. The small unique museum tells the story of copper but also shows magnificent cooper-art. After a demonstration and guided tour, you will be given a small sheet of copper and with tools, and experiment in the art of repoussé.
Then, you travel to the stunning Montmorency Falls. Higher than Niagara Falls, the setting is beautiful.
Île d’Orléans celebrates Québec’s rural tradition with its gorgeous scenery stretching along the banks of the St. Lawrence River, only a few minutes from Québec City. At Vignoble Sainte Petronille, you enjoy a wonderful wine tasting in a delightful setting!
There will be time to refresh back at your hotel and then dinner is on your own. Will you go back inside the wall, or dine along the Grand Allee?
Day 5
Travel today on the western side of the St. Lawrence River and stop in Trois-Rivières. Here you will take time at the stunning Notre Dame du Cap. This beautiful basilica is surrounded by delightful gardens overlooking the St. Lawrence River.
Traveling on to Ottawa, you will stop at Sucrerie de la Montagne, a traditional sugar shack! Comfortable tasty tradition Sugar Shack meal along with live music in a festive setting.
On the banks of the Ottawa River is Canada’s beautiful capital city – Ottawa. The Westin Hotel is your 4-star hotel for the next two nights. Located at the Byward Market, this is the ideal location for exploring Ottawa.
At the Byward Market, within an area of roughly 4 square blocks, you find over 600 shops, cafés, and restaurants. It’s all easy walking, safe and right outside your hotel doors. Dinner tonight is on your own.
Day 6
Almost every summer morning, Parliament Hill is alive with music and colorful drills. The Changing of the Guard began as a morning routine on the Hill in 1959, and has turned into an annual tradition. This large-scale production includes a regimental band and pipers.
You will be driven along Confederation Boulevard and Sussex Drive where you will view the most popular landmarks in
Ottawa, including the famous residence of the Prime Minister and the Governor General residence.
Take in the beauty of the Museum of History (previously the Museum of Civilization). This architectural gem and its spectacular setting are on the banks of the Ottawa River.
Marvel at the world’s largest indoor collection of totem poles and explore the traditions and achievements of Canada’s First Peoples.
Dinner tonight is near the hotel in the Byward Market at the delightful Courtyard Restaurant – an historic and beautiful place featuring modern Canadian fare. After dinner stroll over to Parliament Hill for Northern Lights. This thematic light show sets Parliament Hill ablaze in glorious color while telling a story. A perfect ending to your Canadian adventure.
Day 7
After breakfast, checkout. Depart for Montreal’s airport (2 hours).
