Poconos Skytop Lodge Tour Highlights

Day 1

Welcome to the Skytop Lodge, the hidden jewel of the Poconos. Since 1928 this majestic 5,500 acre escape has been the ultimate destination for blending old-world charm amongst abundant pristine mountains and world-class service. After checking in, take in a deep breathe of this delightful setting – then enjoy a truly wonderful dinner.

Day 2

After breakfast at your hotel (included), travel to the Delaware River. At the Delaware Water Gap, you’ll board a Trolley for a tour featuring the Famous Delaware Water Gap & Shawnee on Delaware located in the DWG National Recreation Area. It’s one of the most visited National Parks in the US!! The authentically-styled trolleys are all-weather air conditioned / heated trolleys. Relax while your knowledgeable and entertaining guide takes you back through history. After, enjoy a stop at Country Kettle Candy – a unique retail store, featuring candy, candles, collectibles and crafts. Return to your oasis in the Poconos in time for lunch. This afternoon go back in time to something you may not have experienced – Lawn Bowling! Skytop boasts a beautifully manicured lawn bowling green. The game is a twist of bowling and bocce. The goal is to get your ball closest to a smaller ball. To do this you must stay in your lane and calculate how to roll your ball since it is weighted on one side. There are many other wonderful activities to partake in – or not! Sometimes it’s the stroll in nature, or sitting on the porch reading a book that truly touches us. Dinner tonight is at the Lodge – another delicious meal!

Day 3

After breakfast board your coach for Jim Thorpe. Enjoy the spectacular scenery as you wind through the Pocono Mountains to Jim Thorpe, PA – named “The Switzerland of America” by the Swiss Tourist Board for its resemblance to a Swiss mountain village! You will tour the beautiful St. Marks Church and the Asa Packer Mansion. Return to your oasis in the Poconos in time for lunch. This afternoon you will have a special private tour of Skytop – via carriage pull.  Ride around the property and listen to the wonderful story of how this iconic place came to be.  Also marvel at the views! After the tour, stop by the Streamside Lodge for a BBQ dinner, campfire and s’mores!

Day 4

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a very wildlife special presentation. See the native wildlife of the region up close, as Katherine Uhler, a local wildlife rehabilitator, presents her show of orphaned or rehabilitating species. Her commitment is to nurse injured animals back to health so they can be returned to nature. Monies generated from this show are put towards the care of the animals at her Rehabilitation Center. Depart for home with a delicious boxed lunch!
