Day 1

Carrie Blast Furnaces

Arrival at noon to the Steel City.  Pittsburgh is a foodie city, and a food tour is the perfect way to get a feel for this great city.  Whether you are in Saxonburg, South Side, Allentown, Northside or the Strip District Market, you will be sated and amazed!

Next – the Carrie Blast Furnaces! A remnant of the once massive, legendary U.S. Steel Homestead Steel Works, the Carrie Blast Furnaces are a vestige of Pittsburgh’s 20th-century domination of the steel industry. This tour highlights Pittsburgh’s steel heritage, and how this post-industrial site became a muse for many artists!

Dinner tonight is on your own – with so many excellent options!

Day 2

After breakfast at your hotel, meet the local guide for a full-day tour of Pittsburgh.

Phipps Conservatory

On this tour you will visit the Southside, Station Square, North Shore, North Side, the Strip District, the Cultural District, Downtown, Uptown & Oakland. You will learn about all the history, current events, architecture and more.

Included in your tour is a guided visit of the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, with a 14-room glasshouse and 23 distinct gardens. 

Rivers of Steel Riverboat tour – a 90-minute sightseeing cruise of Pittsburgh’s three rivers. This tour tells the story of how Pittsburgh became the modern city it is today, sharing the character of the city and the ways in which the region’s industries and entrepreneurs have been on the vanguard of reinvention for more than 250 years!

You will also experience the Duquesne Incline – take a step back in time on a century-old cable car to see the best views of downtown Pittsburgh. The Incline’s upper station has a museum of Pittsburgh history.

Return to your hotel to freshen up for dinner.

Dinner this evening is at Vallozzi’s Italian Restaurant – family owned and operated for over 50 years.

Day 3

After breakfast at your hotel, check out and depart for Bedford, PA.

Fallingwater Home

On the way you will visit Fallingwater. This architectural master work was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and is also on the National Registry of Historic sights. You will have a one-hour guided tour and visit the major rooms of the house.

Your next stop will be in Stonycreek Township at the Flight 93 National Memorial, located at the site of the crash of United Airlines Flight 93, which was hijacked in the September 11 attacks. It commemorates the actions of the crew and brave passengers who thwarted the attack on the U.S. Capitol. 

Overnight at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort located in South Pennsylvania’s scenic Cumberland Valley. This award-winning luxurious resort is home to spacious guest rooms, delectable dining venues and a variety of indoor and outdoor activities – all surrounded by beautiful nature.

Dinner this evening is on your own at the resort with a few delicious options!

Day 4

After breakfast at your hotel, check out and depart for Gettysburg.

Gettysburg Battlefield

First you will visit the National Military Museum and Cyclorama at the Visitor Center – the Battle of Gettysburg Cyclorama painting, larger than a football field, will literally surround you in the climactic event of the Battle of Gettysburg. A New Birth of Freedom, an exclusive film narrated by Morgan Freeman, combines with the Cyclorama to give context and understanding to the importance of the Battle of Gettysburg within American history. The Gettysburg Museum of the American Civil War features 12 exhibit galleries that bring the stories of the battle of Gettysburg and the Civil War to life through artifact displays, interactive exhibits, films and more. 

Continue on a private 2-hour tour through the National Military Park with a licensed battlefield guide – to learn of the incredible history of the battlefield and see the landscape of the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War.

Eisenhower National Historic Site – is the home and farm of General and President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The farm served the President as a weekend retreat and a meeting place for world leaders. You will see the elegant living room adorned with gifts of state, to the presidential putting green, to acres of Pennsylvania cropland, and barns.

Dinner at Dobbin House Tavern – This historic 1776 Tavern has been beautifully and authentically restored as a colonial restaurant.

Day 5

After breakfast at your hotel, check out and depart for Philadelphia, via Lancaster and Hershey.

Your first stop is Hershey Town USA – the town built on chocolate! You will have a trolley ride through Chocolate World – a guide will bring the story of Hershey to life including a chocolate tasting! You will enjoy the wonders of chocolate with a Chocolate Tour at Chocolate World.

Lunch in an Amish family’s home! This is the perfect way to understand these gentle people’s life and lifestyle while also enjoying some wonderful fare!

Continue on a buggy ride though the Amish farmland where you will experience a real, non-commercial Amish Farm, and ride through an Amish Village.

Depart for Philadelphia for your overnight at the Home2 Suites Hotel.

Day 6

After breakfast, meet the local guide for a full-day tour of the City of Brotherly Love!

Visit the National Constitution Center – here you will experience the history and relevance of the Constitution and celebrate the freedom it represents. Don’t miss the iconic Signers’ Hall, where you can sign the Constitution alongside 42 life-size bronze statues of the Founding Fathers. Tour will also include a visit to the Liberty Bell Center – where you will see America’s symbol of Freedom.

Mural Arts Walk

Follow your guide to the heart of the city and visit five distinctive eateries to sample iconic Philly favorites – such as cheesesteak, tomato pie, and soft pretzels. Make sure to save room for not one but two desserts at the Reading Terminal Market.

Your driving tour continues to such sights as the U.S Mint, Franklin Square, Elfreth’s Alley, Barnes Foundation, Rodin Museum, the “Rocky Steps” at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rittenhouse Square and Penns Landing.

Mural Arts Philadelphia is the nation’s largest public art program, dedicated to the belief that art ignites change. Throughout today’s touring you will enjoy the amazing murals that dot the city.

Dinner at the famous historic City Tavern. Opening in 1773, City Tavern was the meeting place for our Founding Fathers. Tonight, you will dine on delicious fare reminiscent of the meals George Washington and Thomas Jefferson dined upon.

The American Revolution Museum explores the dramatic, surprising story of the American Revolution through its unmatched collection of Revolution-era weapons, personal items, documents, and works of art.

Depart for the airport.
